Radiation Safety and Consultation

  • Capabilities include permanent or temporary assignment of a Radiation Safety Officer to provide   analysis of exposure control and assessment, radioactive and naturally occurring radioactive material management, radioactive source use, and instrumentation use and calibration.  Consultations may include:
    • Radiation Protection Management (DOE or NRC)
    • Radiation Material Management (DOE or NRC)
    • Radioactive Source Management (DOE or NRC)
    • Emergency Response Mobility
    • Non-Ionizing and Ionizing Radiation Assessment
    • Gamma and Alpha Spectroscopy
    • Liquid Scintillation Analysis
    • Gross Alpha Beta Activity
    • Radon Detection and Background
  • Health physics programs will be implemented in accordance with the requirements of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC, 20 CFR), and/or the Department of Energy (DOE, 10 CFR), and the requisite state.  Consultation may also include procedural and permit development and revision.
  • Radiation, contamination, and radioactive airborne monitoring provides routine or emergency survey operations such as:
    • Unrestricted Release Surveys
    • Large Area Release Surveys
